Christmas Parade

Lexington Christmas Parade – A Shining Success!

The Lexington Christmas Parade was met with overwhelming enthusiasm by the crowd that gathered downtown on Friday evening, December 6.  The weather had been threatening all day but the decision was made by the Christmas Parade Committee to proceed based on a weather window of opportunity.  And the rains did indeed stay away until the parade was finished and all the participants and spectators had departed.

And what a parade it was!  With fire and rescue units from all the local jurisdictions including Lexington,  energetic dance troupes, floats galore, equestrian entries,  brightly lit vehicles and, of course, Santa’s float signaling the parade’s end.  City Manager Jon Ellestad was the Grand Marshal leading the numerous parade participants. The crowd clearly enjoyed the parade entries and everyone appreciated the time, effort and creativity put into designing the floats and entries.

The Judges had a difficult time selecting the winners for each class because the entries were many and magnificent!  But decisions had to be made and the Winners will receive a plaque and Honorable Mention will receive a certificate.
