Jeremy Franklin has been announced as the new executive director of Main Street Lexington (MSL).

Franklin will begin his official duties on Monday, May 12. He replaces Rebecca Logan, who will retire on Friday, May 23 after more than six years at the helm of the organization.

“As we celebrate the retirement of Rebecca Logan, we extend our deepest gratitude for her dedication, leadership, and the grace with which she guided this organization into the community asset it is today,” MSL board of directors president David Feinauer said. “Her ability to build relationships, work tirelessly alongside many volunteers at community events for seemingly every holiday, and to champion Main Street’s mission has left a lasting legacy.

“At the same time, we are thrilled to welcome Jeremy Franklin into the role,” Feinauer added. “His deep understanding of our mission, passion for non-profit organizations, and connection to this community give us great confidence and excitement for this next chapter. We look forward to the continued growth and impact of Main Street Lexington’s work under his leadership.”

Franklin, who has worked as the office manager at MSL since July 2023, brings a wealth of nonprofit experience to the executive director position. He is a 2004 graduate of Washington and Lee University who has been involved in the local community for over 20 years, including his time as general manager of WLUR, the W&L radio station, a board and staff member for Lime Kiln Theater, a freelance sports writer for The News-Gazette, and a play-by-play announcer for W&L, VMI, and high school athletics.

“I’m excited about this opportunity to expand my role with Main Street Lexington,” Franklin said. “This organization is critical to the economic vitality and quality of life in our beautiful city, and I look forward to building on the strong foundation established by Rebecca and our outstanding board, our small but dedicated staff, and our legion of volunteers and supporters throughout the community.”

While Logan officially became executive director in October 2018, her involvement with MSL dates back to the organization’s founding over a decade ago. She was on the original board of directors when MSL was formed in the summer of 2013. A lifelong graphic designer and art director, as well as a former downtown business owner, she served as the MSL design committee chair on and off until she was hired as the executive director.

“It has been my pleasure to be a part of Main Street Lexington these past 11 years,” Logan said. “We have accomplished so much in a short amount of time, which was only possible with the leadership of the MSL board, the help of hundreds of volunteers, and the support of the community. I am delighted to pass the torch on to Jeremy; I am confident MSL will thrive under his leadership and continue its mission to support the downtown community.”

Established in 2013, Main Street Lexington is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to support, enhance, and promote downtown Lexington. For more information, please visit the About page.
