​VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WITH MSL

​We're looking for volunteers of all ages. Help out with just one event or join a standing committee. We need your skills and enthusiasm.
Join a Committee
​Currently, Main Street Lexington Committees are being held virtually. Our meetings are open to the public; if you'd like to join, please email us several days in advance at  Email [email protected] We will provide you with information to call into the meeting.

Economic Vitality Committee:

Meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m., Virtually
Helps existing businesses and encourages new business downtown; does market research; tackles workforce issues, encourages more downtown residential living.​
  1. Creates an inventory of available properties downtown
  2. Researches available tax credits for downtown property owners
  3. Helps to facilitate publicity of downtown properties
  4. Hosts the Upstairs & Underground Property Tour

Organization Committee:

Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 8:00 a.m., Virtually
Helps existing businesses and encourages new business downtown; does market research; tackles workforce issues, encourages more downtown residential living.​
  1. Hosts Community Forums
  2. Fundraises for Main Street Lexington’s downtown enhancement efforts
  3. Organizes Annual Main Street Lexington Celebration
  4. Recruits new board members

Design Committee:

Meets the third Thursday of each month, 11:00 a.m., Virtually
  1. Maintains Main Street Lexington planters in McCrum’s Lot alley
  2. Increases downtown public outdoor seating
  3. Facilitates the installation of bike racks downtown
  4. Beautifies and facilitates public use of alleyways
  5. Partners merchants with artists to increase public art​

Promotions Committee:

The Promotions Committee meets bi-monthly to review progress on these key initiatives:
  1. Facilitates regional outreach for downtown Lexington. Key initiatives include: LoveLexVA Website and Postcards, Facebook Advertising, Hotel Outreach, Promotions targeted to the VA Horse Center
  2. Helps get visitors downtown
  3. Creates annual events calendar and hosts downtown events
  4. Keeps the downtown business community informed of events and promotions
  5. This committee sponsors the MSL Business Synergy Meetings which meets the fourth Wednesday of each month, 8:30 a.m., Virtually
